Can a Book be about internal struggles?

Novels most often have some central conflict.  It could be physical violence or threats against a character; it could be mental anguish brought on by an antagonist or it could be the internal struggle of the main character due to their own perceived shortcomings.  The question is, can a book where the main conflict is internal hold readers’ interest and actually be considered a good book.  In previous books I have gone pretty much with the physical danger to the main character, threats of death even.  But, in “Koronus: Apprentice” at least for the first part of the book, it’s all about the struggles Koronus has with finding self-worth.  He’s belittled and feels totally worthless and his family isn’t helping.  Will readers care?

Prequel to the Tirumfall Trilogy.
