Fall of the Western Kings, book 1 of the Tirumfall Trilogy is listed everywhere as “epic fantasy.” But is it a “romantasy” too? There are sword fights, dragons (good and bad), demons and evil villains that must be defeated like you’d expect in an epic fantasy. But what about Gant and Dalphnia? He’s found nearly dead, saved by her and since she’s a woodland nymph, she enchants him to become her latest husband. That should enslave him to her for life. However, he breaks her spell only to find that he is in love with her even when no magic is involved. It’s a love that she feels too but cannot believe. Isn’t that sort of what a romantic fantasy is about? Finding true love in the strangest places?
