Gravity waves are finally detectable and maybe we’ll begin to understand how to manipulate them or gravity itself. More phenomena predicted by Einstein and now confirmed. The universe is stranger than we thought. And what of quantum computing, qubits, superpositions and measuring the states of a qubit. I think there are very few of us who will actually understand what is happening or how it all works (when it works) but then again, most of us couldn’t explain how our cell phone works. It does and we use it all the time. These are juicy topics for sci-fi writers who can take a guess at what it means and how it might be useful. It’s going to be exciting to see what comes of it all and as new technologies emerge, we can look back at the sci-fi predictions and see how close anyone came to getting it right.
