Well I said a few days ago that I was going to write better and that the second volume of the Tirumfall Trilogy was going smoothly. If you are an author, then you know that characters get to be old friends, or at least acquaintances that you are intimately familiar with. That’s especially true when those characters have traveled with you for more than one book. So, I was moving along rather well with this “last” revision when a few of my characters just flat don’t want to go along with my ideas. They dug in their heels and said in no uncertain terms, “I’m not doing that. Do you think I’m an idiot?” And I know they are right. So now what? If I let them go where they assure me they need to go, the plot changes enough that the last 75 pages of the book have to be scrapped. If I stick to what I have, I am now convinced that readers will side with the characters and the book will be the worse for it. So, reluctantly, I am going to follow their lead and rewrite the ending. I hope it will be a better book, but it certainly won’t be getting an early release. Just trying to find order in chaos.
