Is there Room for Humble Characters in Fiction?

Is the humble hero gone from fiction?  It seems everyone wants a snarky, cheeky MC. Like Criss in the Crystal Series of sci-fi books by Doug J. Cooper.  I mean I like that sort of character too and yes, Criss was a favorite, but is there room for an MC that’s less boisterous, who gets it done without verbalizing.  Are there readers who enjoy seeing the quieter hero come out on top instead of the loud-mouth who has all the right quips and makes sure to get them said?  I think I write more of the quiet type and begin to wonder if I need to change my thinking?
