Blog Tour News Day 4

It’s day 4 and the fantasy blog tour for “Fall of the Western Kings” is going strong.  Lots of people checking things out, dropping a comment, and entering the giveaway.  But the tour is at different blog sites every day.  So how do you find the tour?

Here’s a video showing how I went looking for the tour.  https://youtu.be/R6a7UskaKfM

Or you could visit Silver Dagger Tours and find the schedule for the tour.

Fantasy Novel Blog tour

The tour starts today!  Yikes, and I don’t really know what I’m doing.  They tell me it’ll be fun, that I’ll get to interact with bloggers and readers and maybe another author or two. The tour highlights the two books in my epic fantasy series, “Fall of the Western Kings” and “Child of Evil.”  It starts today and runs through October 26th.  There’s a giveaway too – an Amazon gift card so be sure to sign up to win that.  During the tour please stop by some of the blog spots and add a comment.  I’ll be checking in from time to time so leave a question and I’ll try to answer it.  The whole thing kicks off here where you can sign up for the giveaway and find links to all of the blog stops.   Check it out.  https://www.silverdaggertours.com/sdsxx-tours/fall-of-the-western-kings-book-tour-and-giveaway

Going on a Blog tour

Yes, that’s right, I’m going on a blog tour even though I’ve never done one and really don’t know how they work.  I guess I will find out.  The tour will highlight the two books in my epic fantasy series, “Fall of the Western Kings” and “Child of Evil.”  The tour starts September 26thand runs through October 26th. During the tour I’ll be dropping in on some of the blog spots and adding a post here and there.  I’ll be letting readers in on things about the series and about me that I haven’t shared before.  If anything I hope it’ll be fun for the bloggers, their subscribers, and me.

Right now the tour is being set up and if you’re a blogger who might be interested in getting in on it, here’s a link to sign up.  There are giveaways and incentives for bloggers to be part of it so check it out. https://www.silverdaggertours.com/tour-sign-ups/fall-of-the-western-kings-tour-sign-ups

My latest novel, “Bula Bridge” is coming to Bridge Street again

As mentioned here before, I had a couple of books at Carlisle’s on Bridge Street in Ashtabula, OH and they sold out right away.  I don’t know if anyone went there looking for a copy and was disappointed that they couldn’t get one, if so I’m sorry about that.  I had no idea the books would sell so fast.  Additional copies will be available at Carlisle’s beginning the afternoon of Friday, August 23. I can’t guarantee how long they will last.

If you want a copy with a personalized autograph I will be on Bridge Street that afternoon and would be happy to sign a copy for you.  If you don’t find me at Carlisle’s (I won’t actually be there long) you probably will find me at Harbor Perk.  Whether you are interested in the book or not, just drop by to say hi.

An Indie Author worth your time

A lot of good indie authors go unnoticed and yes there are indie authors who should go unnoticed.  Renee Scattergood is one of the good ones.  So far I’ve only read the beginning ofShadow Stalker and from what I’ve read, Renee’s writing is clean, crisp and well done.  I was immediately taken by her main character, Auren, and you will be too.  The only reason I haven’t gobbled up her books is that they are not available in print and I don’t like reading on a digital device.  I stick to reading paper editions with pages that I touch and turn.  For all you e-reader fans that shouldn’t be an issue.

Since this is being released as a serial, the first book actually contains episodes 1 – 6.  If you like urban fantasy, give it a try.  Links are below along with a little more about Renee and the book.

Renee Scattergood, author of the dark fantasy serial, Shadow Stalker, lives in Australia with her husband and daughter. She loves reading, watching movies with her family, and watching YouTube videos with her daughter. Visit her site for a free copy of Shadow Stalker Part 1 (Episodes 1 – 6): https://reneescattergood.com

Short Description:

Auren longs to prove her independence, but when she disobeys her foster-father, her forbidden excursion turns into a nightmare. The Galvadi have invaded and their emperor wants her dead. Only she can stop him and save her people, but can she overcome her fears and live up to the task?

Writing and Promoting

Jumping between the writing department and the promotional department can be a struggle.  There’s never enough time for both and yet somehow it must get done.

Currently the writer is nearing the three-quarter mark on the first revision to the final book in the Tirumfall Trilogy.  As with all rewrites this one is going to take several more iterations before it’s ready to publish but at least it’s moving along.  I have to admit some of the characters in book 3 are doing things I had not had in mind when I began writing this novel and there might be a bit of it that seems shocking to some readers.  I just hope it ends up being the kind of shock where the reader goes “Wow.  I didn’t see that coming.” in a good way.

Meanwhile, the promotion department is moving forward on several fronts centered around “Bula Bridge” and how best to market it within the local area.  Up to this point, it  has not gone smoothly.  So far attempts to hold a book signing have not produced anything positive.   I hope one way or the other there is something to report soon.

Bula Bridge Signing Party

I know I mentioned to a number of people that there would soon be a book signing (or reading) in Ashtabula, and so far there hasn’t been one.  Never fear, it is still in the works.  The problem has been finding the right date/time and location.  As soon as the details are finalized, I’ll post it here. In the meantime, anyone looking for a copy of Bula Bridge remember that if you’re visiting Bridge Street in Ashtabula, Carlisle’s has copies and I’m sure they’ll be happy to sell you one. And while you’re in there, tell them you’d like to see them handle copies of the prequel, War Party.  Thanks. Looking forward to seeing some of you soon out on Bridge Street.

Book Signing in Quincy

I spent Memorial Day afternoon with Ryan and Angie at Quincy Books and Toys in Quincy, Illinois. Things started out rather gloomy since when I got there I couldn’t tell from out in the parking lot whether the bookstore was even open.  It was, though other than Angie, who works there, the store was empty.  Ryan showed up shortly thereafter and we had a running discussion the rest of the afternoon as customers drifted in and out.  We talked about writing, book selling, and a number of other subjects.  Meanwhile, I greeted readers as they came in and twisted arms until they took one of my bookmarks even if they had no interest in genre that I write.  All in all it was a fun afternoon, sold a few books, met some nice people, and handed out a stack of bookmarks.  If you are in the area you should get to know Ryan, Quincy Books and if you write, the Hannibal Writers Guild.  Here are photos of me with my books on display and one of me with Ryan and Angie.  Thanks to them both.

For more info on Quincy Books check out their FaceBook page: https://www.facebook.com/QuincyBooks/

Happy reading everyone.

Bula Bridge Promo Circuit

On Friday, along with my account manager, I did a loop through Ashtabula County visiting places tied into my book.  First stop was The Corner Bar in Austinburg, a spot where in Chapter 12 the terrorist group meets to plot their own version of the Ashtabula Railroad Disaster of 1876. We left a book for the owner and handed out bookmarks (thanks Graydon) to the patrons around the bar.

From there it was on to Presrite Jeffrerson to give a copy of the book to the guy who provided the inspiration for Bula Bridge by first telling me about the 19thcentury railroad wreck.  There I got a warm reception and we handed out a lot more bookmarks and had some lively discussion about the book.

Next stop was Bridge Street in Ashtabula.  Since it was coffee time we went to Harbor Perk Coffeehouse first, another meeting place for the terrorists (Chapters 8 and 28) as they continued to plot the destruction of a railroad bridge.  I left a book with manager, Mike, and asked about possibly doing a book signing there.  That needs the owner’s approval and is pending.  Last scheduled stop was at Carlisle’s next door to the coffee shop where the owner graciously agreed to have three copies of Bula Bridge on the shelf for sale.  Carlisle’s is a great place to browse so stop in next time you visit Bridge Street.

After that, it was off to Geneva Lodge for a glass of champagne to celebrate a successful trip. There we met a couple waiting for the wine tour and after some conversation they wanted copies of the books. So, two books sold and the promo trip really was done.
