Where are the true warriors?

One #NativeAmerican definition: “A real #Warrior serves the people, protects the weak and helps the elders.”  Maybe a lot of “tough guys” don’t qualify.  One recent example of warriors that meet that definition are the RCMP officers who rushed into the site with an active shooter to try to save kids.

As a writer I would like to think that the “best” warriors in my books fit that mold?  Like Gant in “Fall of the Western Kings”, Tommy in “War Party” or Olga and Toivo in “Shepherds.”.

What about you?  Do you think maybe there is a different definition for warriors in the books you read or write?  What about anti-heroes?
